RED BULL FLUGTAG
Thirteen of Draper’s undergraduate summer students created a human-powered flying machine to compete in Red Bull’s Flugtag competition on Aug. 20, 2016, in Boston. Incorporating elements of industrial design and mechanical engineering, the team behind Draper’s Flugtag entry, titled Possibilities are Coming, crafted a hand-painted, size- and weight-constrained flying dragon, from which a single engineer would glide off a multi-story platform on the Charles River. Inspired by HBO’s Game of Thrones television program, Draper’s Strategic Communication team aided in the production and advertisement.
My role for this project was as a Strategic Planner, working on branding, logistics and content.
Introducing Draper's flight crew competing in Red Bull Flugtag Boston 2016. A team of five students will be taking a leap over the Charles River to test their engineering capabilities. With mentoring and sponsorship from expert technical staff at Draper, they are building a flying machine to go up against twenty-nine other teams in August.
The team has been training hard for their performance, flight and landing. From dance to diving to hang gliding, these Draper students have gone above and beyond.
